The best photography lessons are rarely the ones you plan on a whiteboard. When we scheduled our advanced photography workshop for Sunday, August 30th, the agenda was built around nuanced lighting control, precise depth-of-field management, and intentional composition. Then the unmistakable rumble of vintage engines took over.
As luck would have it, our session aligned with the Black Swan Inaugural Car and Bike Show 2026—an event made even more electric by the milestone celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the legendary Chiko Roll. With iconic Aussie heritage, retro motorbike culture, and a sea of roaring V8s converging around us, we pivoted instantly. We traded our textbook plan for a high-octane, two-hour classic car and bike shoot right in the thick of the action.
Navigating the blinding chrome, rich metallic paint, and raw character of custom builds gave our photographers an unrivaled real-world crucible. From battling midday flare with polarizers to capturing dynamic angles and tactile details—with the scent of high-octane fuel and festival food in the air—it turned a standard technical workshop into an unforgettable masterclass in live automotive photography.
