Awaken Bendigo

Awaken is a series of vibrant installations that engage and immerse in an incredible sensory experience. It turned Rosalind Park in Bendigo into a different world of light and sound every night over the period of 26 June 2021 - 17 July 2021.

To capture and share Awaken I packed light bringing only Olympus OM-D EM-1 MKII with the 12-40mm 2.8, to limit the lens flares that my favourite lens the 7-14mm 2.8 loves to do, my new Peak Design travel tripod for mainly to capture the lights from the poppet head and my GoPro9 using the magnetic mounting system by SnapMounts that allows me to have two hands free and still capture the experience.

The GoPro performed better than I thought it would being magnetically stuck to my jacket which allowed it the move around a bit but the stabilisation worked a treat, only when I moved too fast with very low light did it fail. I had the ISO max out at 800 but I do love contrast of the dark from the light, GoPro footage is as captured in the below short video.

All still photos expect for the poppet head were captured hand held relying on the amazing IBIS on the EM-1 MKII.
